Department of Pediatrics

Allama Iqbal Medical College houses the country’s premier Pediatric Department. The 81 bedded unit endeavors to provide state of the art care to sick children from all over the city, as well as referred cases from other units and clinics. The Department was established as a small unit with the inauguration of the hospital. In the recent past, the department has been renovated and the number of beds has been increased to provide quality care to patients and facilitate the best possible under- & post-graduate teaching. The main subdivisions of the Department are: Pediatric Emergency Unit, Neonatology Unit, General Medical Section, Pediatric Outpatient Unit, Specialty Clinics & Academic Block.

Candidates from all over the country keenly participate in the course. Tutors are also invited from all over Pakistan for facilitating the course.  The well-organized course has become quite popular among the candidates because of high pass percentage of the attending students.

The Pediatric Department offers a great patient exposure, knowledge, excellent learning experience for under- & post-graduate students. There is round the clock residential cover of Senior Registrars in Pediatric Emergency to ensure quality patient care. On call consultants are available. There is active participation of the department in pediatric conferences and research work. Publications are regularly made in indexed journals by the faculty as well as the residents.
